Triangle Breathing

When I counsel people for anger I always prefer to resolve the problem at its source. However, sometimes people need a way to contain their anger until a better solution is found.

Taking a “timeout” followed by your preferred relaxation technique is a good containment approach. The relaxation technique listed below is straightforward and easy to apply anytime.

TRIANGLE BREATHING

  1. Inhale for 3 SLOW seconds.
  2. HOLD IT for 3 SLOW seconds.
  3. Exhale completely for 3 SLOW seconds.
  4. Repeat 3 times.
