When I counsel people for anger I always prefer to resolve the problem at its source. However, sometimes people need a way to contain their anger until a better solution is found.
Taking a “timeout” followed by your preferred relaxation technique is a good containment approach. The relaxation technique listed below is straightforward and easy to apply anytime.
TRIANGLE BREATHING
- Inhale for 3 SLOW seconds.
- HOLD IT for 3 SLOW seconds.
- Exhale completely for 3 SLOW seconds.
- Repeat 3 times.
